Makeup Forever HD Elixir Review: Quench That Thirst!

5 Sep

Ello Meebsies,

Being sick sucks. I haven’t eaten anything solid in a week. Every time I look at chicken noodles soup I want to gag. 😦

On a side note, I was pleasantly surprised when my sister came home from shopping sporting a huge Sephora bag. She bought goodies for me!!! Most of the stuff I received were just replacements for things I was running out of. The only new product I got was the Makeup Forever HD Elixer serum. MAN DO I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!!! ^O^

Here is the product description.

What it is:
An innovative serum that instantly hydrates and adds radiance to the skin.

What it does:
HD complexion collection uses innovative formulas to create a new generation of makeup that is invisible on high-definition cameras and to the naked eye. This unique, lightweight elixir absorbs quickly into the skin, instantly hydrating and brightening the complexion. The breakthrough formula contains D-Panthenol and glycerin to ensure an immediate boost of hydration (+520% after 15 minutes) that lasts throughout the day (+175% after 6 hours). Argatensyl is added to provide an immediate smoothing effect. Each ingredient was specifically added to prepare skin for high-definition makeup—so you can count on the camera picking up the perks of this perfecting formula.

What else you need to know:
This product is oil and paraben free and dermatologist tested.

Research results:
-+520% increased moisture after 15 minutes
-+490% after 30 minutes
-+430% after one hour
-+250% after two hours

You have to say, it’s pretty impressive. After using it for about a week, it’s been a life saver. I think that everyone knows what I’m talking about when I say no one looks good when you’re sick. Your nose is dry, your face is flushed, and you just look gross. For me, because I’m dehydrated, my skin is also dehydrated. So when I go on a drug run I am in no mood to do my makeup. Fear not, all you need are two drops of this serum and you are good to go. ^_^

It’s extremely light, extremely light. Since this is a serum, your skin will drink it up in seconds. It leaves your face moisturized and almost dewy looking. If you have fine lines or crows feet, I find that this product really helps reduce the appearance. Even though this product is meant to be a face primer, you can really use it all by itself. However, if you want to have flawless foundation, use this baby with any liquid foundation to look FABULOUS!!! ^_^

Retail Price is about $40 at Sephora.

July Beauty Favorites

31 Jul

Evening Meebsies,

Just finished making really good Japanese curry for dinner. ^_^ When I think about it, I’ve been cooking a lot more than usual. Maybe I should do a cooking post? Lol. Would you guys be interested in something like that? A Cooking With Meebs section? Lol. ^_^

This last month has been a really stressful one. My skin has been breaking out constantly. Not to mention the hot weather has been trying on my skin. Thank goodness for these products. I have to say that these are my all time favorite products right now. *O*

First I’m going to start off with beauty products.

I LOVE THIS PRODUCT!!! ^O^ Take it from a girl who has single lids, which equals oily lids; this product works wonders. Maybe I am a little behind on the Urban Decay Primer Potion craze, but  now I know why there was a craze to begin with. Before I found this magic in a bottle, I used Two Faced Shadow Insurance. Don’t get me wrong, I still think that it is a fairly good primer, it just didn’t really do it for my lids. It was always frustrating to have amazing eye makeup; only to come home at the end of the day wondering how long had my eye shadow been creased?! I actually first tried this as a sample from Sephora. The first time I used it and came home I was AMAZED. NO CREASING. WHOOT!!! ^O^ A must have for any girl.

One of the few things you guys should know about me is, I LOVE GLITTER!!! I just think that adding that little bit of glitter to your eye makeup makes all the difference. You never see me without a little bling bling. ^^ I love this NYX Liquid Crystal Liner! The liner itself is very sparkly. I love it when the glitter is really dense. When you put it on, it doesn’t look like glitter. It kind of looks like sparkly black eyeliner. So if you don’t like really dramatic glitter this is prefect. ^^ It’s also really long lasting but easily removable with some makeup  remover. Warning, it does sting a little because of the alcohol in the liner. But that only happens if you apply it on your waterline.

I am LOVIN’ this brush. Not only does it work like a charm, but it’s affordable. I think I paid around 12 dollars for this brush at Ulta. Which totally beats paying $30 for a Mac brush. ^^  The brush is really dense and when you use it to apply your foundation… FLLLLAWWLESSSS!!! *O*

Idk about you guys, but I love chapsticks. This is the second Nivea one I’ve tried. I’m all about honey and oatmeal. Weird right? I just had to try this out when I saw honey. The scent is really nice and it glides on my lips like butter. ^^ Really moisturizing and light. The only downside is that there isn’t any SPF. With the sunny weather, SPF would be nice.

Next are skincare products.

One of the best facial scrubs I have ever used. Extremely gentle, but very exfoliating. It does smell a little weird, and I do wish that the product wasn’t so chemically?.. smelling? I still prefer using good old oatmeal for facial masks. But this is a good alternative when you don’t have the time or resources; or when you’re traveling. If you guys know this Company Queen Helene, they make the mint julep masque. If you guys are a fan of that masks, you should try this one out as well. ^^

I have always been a fan of Clinique. Idk why it took so long for me to try out their lotion. This lotion is extremely moisturizing. Even more than the Cetaphil face lotion I’ve been using. Doesn’t make your makeup greasy, creates a great canvas for foundation, and evens skin tone. It’s pretty awesome.

AMAZING SKIN LOTION!!! This is a miracle worker. All I have to say is use it once and you’ll see the result the next day. ^_^

This body wash is awesome. It’s extremely moisturizing but leaves you clean feeling. Idk how to explain it. I hate when moisturizing body wash leaves a film on your skin where it makes you feel like you aren’t clean. On the other hand, I hate it when the body wash makes you feel so clean that you stick to everything. Lol. You guys know that I’m talking about. This is the perfect blend of everything I love without everything I hate. Also, if you have ingrown hair on your legs, use this with a loofah everyday and see them gradually disappear. ^_^

Finally hair products! ><

I have always had really flat hair. I feel like I’ve tried everything to make my hair more voluminousness. The thing is I hate the feeling of product in my hair. I like my hair to be clean and light. This product is great because it’s not heavy and easy to use. Right after the shower, you just spritz a little on the roots of your hair. Go to sleep and TA-DAH!!! Light, bouncy, full of volume hair. It’s pretty magical. *O* Plus it smells AMAZING!!!

Since I have really thick hair, I’ve always found it hard to find a hairspray that would hold my hair in place. This product is probably the only product I have found that will hold my styled hair for a whole day. Not only on a normal dry day, but on humid days as well. It smells good and doesn’t leave my hair feeling crunchy.

These are my favorites for July. ^^ I hope you guys have an awesome rest of the day.

Please remember these are just my personal experiences with the products. ^^

Much Love,

Meebs

Ulta and Sephora Mini Haul

29 Jul

Good Day Meebsie’s

How has summer been treating you? Mine has been pretty amazing. I’m going to be going on a road trip to Seattle tomorrow and I can’t wait. Sorry, sucker for Grey’s Anatomy. Lol. ^^ I just wanted to show you guys a few things I got from Ulta and Sephora when I was in Chicago. It was actually my first time going to an actual Ulta. I’ve seen their online website, but I never knew that they had an actual store! It was pretty exciting. >< I love Ulta because it has EVERYTHING!!! Even though I am a Sephora lover, they mostly have high end makeup there. I love how Ulta is the perfect blend of high end and drug store products. One stop makeup shop. Lol. ^^

I was ECSTATIC when I saw this section. We don’t have anyway to buy NYX back at home. I’ve always wanted to try out their products.

Love Smashbox!!!

I thought it was really neat how they organize their products by face, eyes, lip, etc.

They have a pretty big hair sections. Soooo many hair dryers. ^^

Had to get NYX products. HAD to get bling bling. Lol. ^_^ I’m a glitter addict.

I’ve heard a lot of good things about these brushes. I’ve been using a foundation brush for my liquid foundation, so I thought I would try out a stippling brush. Let me tell you something. I am in love with this brush. My foundation looks FLAWLESS. *O* GET A STIPPLING BRUSH. It’s a MUST HAVE!!!

I absolutely love this pink. Very simple, elegant, yet fun. ^^

Once again, my glitter addiction got the better of me. But this nail polish was so pretty I couldn’t resist. Actually, this glitter matches the China Glaze I got from Ulta. I might do a nail tutorial with them. ^_^

I’ve actually been using this primer for a long time now. I found out the other day that they are discontinuing it. =( I think they are using the same formula but in a new bottle? IDK. If you guys want to try it out, you should go to Sephora asap.

I thought this was really interesting. Since I only order online when I shop at Sephora I usually get prepackage samples. I was kind of shocked when the lady asked what sample I wanted. When I asked for Urban Decay Primer Potion, I thought she was going to give me a little pouch or something. But she just went over to the sample on display and squeezed a little into this pot. It’s actually kind of really cool. Plus I’m happy that I got to try out this primer. I’ve been using Two Faced Shadow Insurance Primer but now I think I might switch over to Urban Decay. Maybe I’ll do a primer comparison/review sometime.

That’s all for now. I will have another Chicago post soon. Yeah, I have a lot of Chicago memories. Lol. ^^

Love,

Meebs

Del Sol Color Changing Nail Polish Review

21 Jul

Heya Meebsies,

I’m taking a little detour from the Chicago Trip to this AMAZING nail polish someone gave to me as a gift. It’s sooo cool. If you haven’t heard of Del Sol products you need to check them out. They specialize in products that change color in the light. I got their color changing nail polish in Superhero Pink. It’s pretty awesome.

Before sunlight, it’s a frosty blue.

After sunlight, it’s superhero pink.

It’s kind of hard to tell the difference in the picture; but I’m telling you guys, this stuff really works. It’s pretty cool.

Yeah, so I just had to share this with you guys. ^^ Idk why I thought it was just soo awesome. ^_^ Have a great day today!

❤

P.S. I am not endorsing or advertising. I just thought this was really cool so I should share it. ^^

Rescue Your Skin

19 Jun

Ello Meebsies,

I don’t think anyone is a stranger to the horrors of bad skin. While some of us are fortunate enough to have triggers such as junk food or chocolate; some of us are cursed with triggers such as menstrual cycles or stress. I am sad to say that I am a member of the cursed triggers. Especially during the school year with exams and papers due, my skin defiantly reflects my stress. I’ve tried everything from drugstore products to professional products and nothing seemed to really work. Until…DUH DUH DUH!!!!…I went to the grocery store. ^^

Did you know that some of the best skin care treatments can be found at the grocery store? For me, I think I have found the Holy Grail of skin products. OATMEAL!!! I cannot go a week without using an oatmeal mask at least once. Not only does it prevent breakouts, but it actually clear up any breakouts I may have. The results are almost instant.

Here are just a few benefits of oatmeal…

  • Fades scars
  • Clears up breakouts
  • Prevents breakouts
  • Evens skin tone
  • Brightens skin
  • Creates a smooth canvas for foundation
  • Gentle on sensitive skin
  • Moisturizes
  • Exfoliates

The best part about this mask is it’s affordable and easy to make. ^^

Oatmeal Mask Recipie

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of cooked oatmeal

Optional Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbs Organic All Natural Honey (For Moisturizing Mask)
  • 1Tbs Lemon (For Brightening Mask)
  • 1Tbs Baking Soda (For Exfoliating Mask)

Directions:

  1. Cook 1/2 cup of oatmeal by following directions on box. Allow the oatmeal to cool to room temp.
  2. Mix in optional ingredients.
  3. Apply on face and leave for about 15 mins, or until oatmeal is dried up.

TIPS/WARNINGS

  • DO NOT USE UNCOOKED OATMEAL ON FACE. My dermatologist says that a common mistake many people make when using oatmeal as a mask is using uncooked oatmeal. Uncooked oatmeal is very harsh on the skin. Because the grains have ridged edges that can damage the skin and also trap oil in your skin. Cooked oatmeal also allows your skin to soak up all the goodies oatmeal has to offer. ^-^
  • Use grounded oatmeal for easier application of the mask.
  • DO NOT USE HONEY THAT CONTAINS CORN SYRUP. Corn syrup will actually cause breakouts. Make sure to use honey that is all natural. Organic honey is even better.

If you love to travel like me, even though I wish I could, I can’t bring cooked oatmeal with me everywhere. So when I travel I like to bring my Queen Helene Oatmeal ‘n Honey Natural Facial Scrub instead.

It’s not really a mask, but like in the name, a facial scrub. Of course it can’t beat the real thing, but I think it comes pretty close. This is my all time favorite scrub. I break out a lot when I’m on my lady cycle and just last week I was having a lot of problems in my t-zone area. One use and literally all my breakouts disappeared the next morning. It was a miracle. *o* I got mine at Walgreens for about $5. GET IT!!!

However, the real secret to great skin is as simple as LOVING YOUR SKIN. If you treat it with care, it will be reflected. ^_^

Have a wonderful day!

Much Love,

Meebs

Sushi Anyone?

4 Dec

Ello Meebsies,

Today is my sisters birthday party and I have been assigned food duty. The special for today, Sushi. I know that many people are skeptical when they hear sushi. The word raw usually comes to mind. However, sushi does not have to be raw at all. I personally have tried sushi with raw ingredients (to tell you the truth I didn’t really know what I was eating). I don’t know if it was the texture or the taste that did not quite tickle my fancy. So when I personally make sushi, I use cooked ingredients. This time I tried the combination of avocados, cooked crab meat and Korean cucumbers. When it comes to sushi, it is all about the combination of flavors and textures.

All I can say is DELICIOUS!!! (゜◇゜)As you can see, I’m am no professional sushi maker. But really, it is the taste that counts. The avocados gave it a creamy texture, the cucumber gave it a crunch and the crab meat gave it flavor. YUM! I know that many of us are watching what we eat right now, and the last thing we want are carbs. However, I have used brown rice instead of white rice as an alternative. It is much healthier. But then again, it is nice to indulge in a little treat every once and awhile.

Have a great birthday party Hillary! ^_^ Also, shout out to my first two followers >.< It means a lot to me.

Love XOXO

December Favorites

3 Dec

Hey Meebsies,

I thought it would be nice to talk about December favorites since the holidays are coming up. A few weeks ago I purchased some Clinique products from Macy because with the cold Winter weather, I have been breaking out a lot more often for some reason. They were actually having a promotion! ^O^ WOOT! Apparently if you spent $50, they gave you a makeup bag full of goodies for free. I think I got a pretty good haul

.

I actually bought some makeup along with the facial products. I just haven’t had a chance to try them out yet.

Clinique has a line specifically targeted towards acne prone skin called, Acne Solutions. It kind of reminds me of Proactive with the three different steps. If you have used Proactive it is essentially the same idea.

Step 1: Cleansing Foam – I found this product really effective. After using it for two weeks my skin cleared up pretty nicely. The only downside was how dry it left my skin afterwards. I’ve noticed that a lot of acne cleansing products tends to dry out skin. However, if you apply moisturizer afterwards the dryness seemed to go away. The foam was not as dense as I would have hoped. When I rubbed it into my skin it stayed foamy for maybe 10 seconds before turning into liquid.

Step 2: Clarifying Lotion – This toner was not my favorite. It was really drying on the skin and it had a very strong alcohol smell. I would actually recommend using a different brand of toner, but I don’t know if switching from the Acne Solution line would mess with the results. I just felt that with the face wash drying my skin, I didn’t want to use a toner which only dried it even more.

Step 3: Clearing Moisturizer – This moisturizer was pretty good. It was not as moisturizing as I would have hoped, but it was passable. It did not more leave my skin oily and was very light. I could not tell if my skin was drinking up the moisturizer at record speed or if I was not putting on enough.

In all I thought that this line was not bad at all. Even though it did dry my skin a little, it was nothing a little moisturizer couldn’t solve. I did find that my skin improved, and I broke out less after using it. All the products were scentless and quite affordable. I brought mine from Macy’s but I have heard that when ordering Clinique products online you get a lot of good deals. I guess the only downside would be having to pay for shipping and waiting. I hate waiting. >.< My friend has actually been using this line for awhile now and she says the products last 3-4 months; so even if it is a little expensive it will last you a good while. Please remember that this is all from personal review and the results could be different for different people.

Along with the daily washing line, I also bought the Cleansing Mask. I absolutely love this product. Whenever I feel like I am going to break out. I use this at night before I go to sleep. Once I wake up, no blemishes! It’s like magic. *´▽`*)I also noticed it helps with removing black heads.

The Moisturizer Surge Face Spray was recommended by one of my friends who travels a lot. She said that when she was on the plane her skin tended to dry out. This product is not only extremely to useful, but portable as well. The original bottle is quite large, but you can pour some into a little travel size spray bottle to put in your purse. Because of the cold weather I use this to moisturize my face, but I have heard that during the summer time this spray has a cooling effect. (´ー`) I definitely recommend this product. It is so light and moisturizing. Even though it says facial spray, I’ve been spraying it on my arms and legs after the shower. It leave them so smooth and soft afterwards. I couldn’t help myself.

Since the Acne Solution line is a little drying I have been using this Cetaphil moisturizer in addition to the Clearing Moisturizer. My sisters actually recommended this product to me. It is oil free, hypoallergenic, and contains SPF 15. I love this product! It is a little expensive, but so worth it. It does not make my skin greasy, moisturizes it, and actually makes foundation glide on my skin better. Cetephil was suppose to be designed for people with eczema so if you have redness or rashes, it helps reduce it.

I know this was a lengthy post, so thank you for reading! Even though I stated this before, please remember this is all from personal experience. You may not have the same results as me. On another note, I had an amazing day today. I got to eat Pho and hang out with one of my good girlfriends. Mmm… Pho… It was so funny because all my friends were white (not being racist) and I was the only Asian. We thought it would be funny if they all ate with chopsticks while I ate with a fork. I wish I took a picture of our waiters face when he saw us.   ´∀`) I hope you guys had an amazing day too!

Love XOXO
