Door County, Wisconsin (Popeye at the Fish Broil, Cheesecake, and Egg Harbor)

29 Aug

What’s up Meebsies?

Another Door County post for you guys. Hope you are all having a great rest of your summer. ^^

Off topic, but for those who are wondering what the heck happened to the giveaway. It will have to be REALLY postponed. I thought that I sent out a tweet about it, but I guess not. ūüė¶ I’m really sorry guys, but my life has been really hectic. Really hectic. I promise the giveaway will be¬†extremely amazing. ^_^ Please have patience with me.

I highly suggest going to a fish broil while you are in Door County. I know that many people have gone to the more common fish fry. You can tell from the name that a fish broil is where the food is broiled in water instead of being fried. After talking to a few locals, we were told that the Old Post Office is where you should go to get a good broil experience. It’s also one of the few places where they de-bone your fish for you! Make sure you place a reservation ahead of time because they fill up fast. ^^

You guys are probably wondering, what’s up with the title Meebs? Before the fish broil, we meet the broil master. He’s pretty awesome and doesn’t he look like Popeye? Lol.

See. Don’t they look alike? ^_^

Back to the broil. They first start off by heating up the water.

When everything is almost done cooking. He lights the whole pot on fire by pouring on gasoline. O.O

This is what it looks like when they debone the fish.

For dessert, they have BOMB homemade cherry pie and vanilla ice cream. ^^

Went shopping/sightseeing in Egg Harbor. It’s so beautiful here. There is always something about a little town that puts your heart at peace.

Met a new friend. ^^

Stopped at the Pink Bakery for a snack.

First thing I saw when I walked in. BOOTY COOKES!!! ><

Even though booty cookies looked good. I went with the more conservative cookie sandwich. Lol. ^_^

Egg Harbor is full of little boutiques, cafes, and restaurants.  Great for exploring and shopping.

Yummy mango gelato.

Would you eat a box for 20 bucks?

Last stop is some cheesecake. ^^

The owner told us that his baker trained in New York. I can see it paid off. Soo pretty that you don’t even want to eat it.

I can’t have cheesecake, so I had lactose free ice cream and waffles with…

cherry juice; because Door County is known for their cherry juice. ^^

Lastly a picture of me at our private beach/dock. ^_^

Have a great day!!!

Chicago Trip Part 5 (Lincoln Park Zoo/Art Institute of Chicago/ EATING!!! ^0^)

18 Aug

Evening Meebsies,

The final Chicago post. ^_^

Went to the Lincoln Park Zoo. The great thing about this place is it doesn’t cost a dime to go. The whole zoo is free to the public every day of the week. ^^

One of the greatest fountains EVAH!! ^^

Second fav animal. Pandas would have to be the first. ^_^

Got to pet the ponies. ^^

Had ice cream on our way back.

Bomb Diggidy Milkshakes. >_<

Greek for lunch. Highly recommend Kosta’s for gyros.

You MUST go the Art Institute of Chicago. This is a huge composition notebook. Height wise it was two of me. Pretty neat.

Lichtenstein Converse.

Original American Gothic By Grant Wood

The Picture of Dorian Grey By Ivan Albright. One of my favorites. Even though it is a little eerie. The detail is amazing.

A Sunday on La Grande Jatte By George Seurat

Paris Street; Rainy Day By Gustave Caillebotte

If you are familiar with pizza in Chicago; you know about Uno’s. This place has been in almost ever travel and food show I have every seen. I had to go. However, prepare to wait at least an hour before you get a seat. But sooo worth it.

Deep dish pzizza all the way boy. ^^

Next day we decided to try out Brothers Ribs for, well, ribs.

Horrible ribs… Ironic right?

This place was AMAZING. I know that I use that word a lot, but this place really was amazing. It’s¬†extremely affordable and the portions are HUGE.

First time I’ve every had crepes. Certainly won’t be the last.

If you get a chance, grab a ridiculously yummy milkshake from Ghirardelli.

Loved this Marina City building. It’s actually suppose to look like corn on a cob. Lol. There are apartments in this complex and all the rooms are pie shaped. Lol. Must be hard to decorate. >_<

If you love chocolate. Go to Fannie May for BOMB chocolates.

I know that a lot of people have a fear of flying. I on the other hand love flying. I find it serene. I always wonder if this is what heaven looks like…

Overall, I have to say that Chicago has stolen my heart. From the Chicago proud natives, to the twinkling skyscrapers at night.  There is  always something to love here. ^_^

Next post will be about my travels to Wisconsin. ^_^

Have a great rest of the day.

Love Always,

Chicago Trip Part 4 (Skydeck/Taste of Chicago/Museum of Science and Industry)

17 Aug

Ello Meebsies,

It really has been awhile hasn’t it? I’ve been taking a little time to relax and reflect. ^_^ I think it’s¬†important¬†to take a break every once and awhile. ^^ It was nice to finally sit down and read. I use to read all the time, but this past year I haven’t read a single book for fun. I forgot how amazing reading is…

On another note; yes this is another Chicago post. I’m telling you guys, I had a lot of adventures there. ^^ Without further ado…

I can’t say that Taste of Chicago was my favorite¬†experience¬†in Chicago. IDK about you guys, but I can’t eat at all when it’s hot. If it weren’t for my friends who actually got food. I would have eaten only Italian Ice and drank water for the whole experience. It was just way too hot. However, the food I did eat was pretty good. ^_^

First time I have ever had gumbo. Yummy. ^^

Despite the appearance, these were pretty darn good. Lol.

This was sweet cool relief in 103 degree weather. Thank God for Italian Ice. Lol.

Buckingham Fountain. Beautiful.

Cloud Gate. You can see the whole Chicago Skyline.

It’s kind gross to see all the hand smudges. O.O

I’m a sucker for museums. Especially when they are interactive. This rippling water machine was my favorite.

Indoor tornado. Pretty cool.

Made my own personal Meebsie Raindow. ^-^

Had to visit the Skydeck of course. So beautiful. I LOVE the city. It’s breathtaking. ^^

It’s a long way down. Lol. ¬†They have really cool sky boxes that protrude from the building so you can see the whole city from all directions.

Even though it might not look like it. I was shaking in my boots when  took this pic. I have a serious fear of heights. T_T

This is my new favorite tea spot. Too bad they don’t have one where I live. T_T

Had to detox my body from eating out everyday with a Green Tea Ginger Twist. SOOOO GOOODDD!!! Highly recommend if you like ginger. I was actually at the grocery store the other day and found bottle teas from this cafe in the health drink section.

This was one of the must do on in my Chicago list. I had seen this place on the Food Channel and Travel Channel, so I HAD to come. I think I waited in line for about an hour in 100 degree weather till I was able to see the door. My will was waning once I hit the 30 min mark, but it’s sooo worth it…soooo worth it. ^_^

This is just their rare hot dog menu. They are most famous for this. But they do have a pretty mean Chicago dog if you don’t feel adventurous. Oh, FYI they only take cash. You have been warned. Lol.

These duck fat fries are heavenly horrible for my thighs. Lol. If you get a change to go on the days they serve duck fat fries, try them out!! ><

We finally ended out day with Thai food at the Silverspoon. It reminded me a little of home. Even though I’m not Thai. It was nice to have Asian food for a change. Silverspoon is an AMAMZING Thai place. Very affordable and very understated. Go if you have a chance. ><

Had to get Pad Thai.

I hope you guys have a great weekend. Enjoy the sun! ^_^

Chicago Trip Part 3 (Sightseeing and Eating ^_^)

26 Jul

Hello Meebsies,

I just finished making caramel apples and popcorn. ^^ Really random right? It’s actually the first time I’ve ever made caramel from scratch. I’m actually quite pleased. Now I just have to wait 30 mins for them to cool. It’s taking soooo long. T_T I’m soooo hungry!!! Lol.

Caramel Apple Forest. ^^

Now without further ado. Another Chicago post.

Went to the Hershey Store and when I saw this brownie in the window I had to have it. ^^ THIS IS THE BEST BROWNIE I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!! GET IT!!!! I COMMAND YOU TO!!!

The malls are¬†ridiculously huge. This is the¬†escalator¬†in one of the malls I went to. It’s HUGE but pretty. ^_^

It’s Lego Woody!!!

Went to a Disney Store. It was magical. Lol.

My favorite Disney movie evah is Finding Nemo. I LOVED DORY!!!

I highly¬†suggest¬†going on a boat tour. They offer a ton of different ones. The one I went on was during the evening and we even got a personal firework show. ^^ It’s a great way to see the city and learn a little about the sights.

Had to go to Lou Malnati’s when in Chicago.

Deep Dish Pizza is a must!

If anything, you HAVE to go to Portillos. My mouth is watering just looking at the picture. *drools* GET THE CHOCOLATE CAKE AND ITALIAN BEEF!!!! I went there twice in the two weeks. So good…so good…so good.

Chicago really is gorgeous.

I saw The Purple Pig featured in a few travel and food shows so I thought I would check them out.

The chicken kebabs are UNBELIEVABLE!!! *O*

Cheese and bubbly. ^^¬†Ironically¬†enough I didn’t have any pork while I was there. If you guys get a chance to go there tell me how it is. ^^

Believe it or not, I’ve never had pickled olives before.

Or fried olives.

Lemon Panna Cotta for dessert.

Random. I went to a hot sauce store and saw this. Winning. Lol.

Diary Entry 2 (The Taste)

3 Jul

Hey There Meebsies,

How are you all doing? I have been having a fabulous Summer so far. I can’t believe that June is already over! With July here, I am off to Chicago for 2 weeks. I can’t wait! WHOOT! ^O^ Sorry for going off topic there… Every year we have a huge event called the Taste. I think that every city has some form of the Taste. I actually arranged to travel to Chicago so I can make it to the Taste of Chicago. ^_^ Without further ado here is the first pic. Lol.

So many people. So much food. *0*

We even have a stage for local performers to show us what they got. ^^

Went to Lunch at Dancing Zorbas. Anyone recognize the name? My Big Fat Greek Wedding maybe?

Had to get a Gyro of course. I was a little¬†disappointed that I couldn’t get the sauce because it had feta cheese in it. T_T (Fun Fact: I’m allergic to dairy) But nonetheless, it was really good. As you can see I dug right in before I remembered that I needed to take a picture. Lol. Just¬†couldn’t¬†resist. *drools*

Curly fries are a no brainer must. ^-^

Told you guys I can’t resist anything with mango in it. Had to get fresh made mango juice when I saw it. FYI. The goofy looking guy in the picture is my BEST FRIEND EVAH!!! We’ve known each other since¬†elementary¬†school and still managed to stay friends. I would die for this guy. He also took most of these pictures. Props to him. He is also recently single ladies. Lol. ^^ Remember guys, treasure your real friends. I’m not talking about the 300 friends you have on Facebook. I’m talking about those friends who have been by your side when you are at your lowest. Only true friends will make sure you never fall; and even if you do, they will never hesitate to pick you back up. Tell your friend how much you love them now! ^-^

I know maybe I shouldn’t have, but since I am a strong believer in trying everything once, I had to try a deep fried Snicker bar. Yes, I said a deep fried Snicker bar. You thought a Snicker bar was delicious. This takes delicious to a whole other level. I think I had to run an extra 30 mins on the¬†treadmill¬†to work off this bad boy. But soooo worth it…so worth it. Lol.

Had to buy some caramel corn for my sister because she wasn’t able to go. SOOOO GOOODDDDD!!!! If you have ever had Pirate Booty (The popcorn you perverts lol). This is like Pirate Booty on¬†steroids. No joke.

Had to play some games even though I never win anything.  T_T

My favorite fair ride.

Saw some interesting people. I was a little curious to what was going on right there. But turns out they were in a band performing at the Taste. Cute family. ^^

Hamster¬†ball anyone? I was serious considering trying this out. But my friend reminded me that with my hand eye coordination. I would probably hurt myself or cause wide spread panic throughout the festival. I think it was within everyone’s best interest that I stay far away from it. Did look really fun though. If you have ever been in one I would love to know how it was.

Of course I had to check out the local artists. I particularly liked this guy’s because he specializes in fairy tale art. I am a sucker for fairy tales. Even though people always tell you that fairy tales aren’t real. I’d like to think that they are. I would like to think that one day I will meet my prince charming. Good does triumph over evil. Alas, perhaps this is just wishful thinking… On a side note, this is pretty amazing work. I would buy all his paintings if they weren’t a little out of my price range…poor college students sadly can’t really afford $3000 art.

I’m going to end this post with this couple of love birds. ^^ We watched them for a long time and not once did they leave each other’s side. Made me smile. ^-^

P.S. Just got a Twitter. Follow me to keep up with my Chicago adventures. ><

Diary Entry 1 (Farmer’s Market)

28 Jun

Good Day Meebsies,

I thought that I would start a new category of posts for a My Diary Segment. It’s just going to be random dairy life stuff. ^^ Yesterday, I went to a local farmers market. I’ve always had a love for street markets. Whether it be in my town or in Hong Kong; there is always something really humbling when it comes to street markets. Not to mention, you can get some pretty good deals, while supporting local businesses. ^-^

SOOO MUCH HONEY. The best thing about this honey is it’s all organic. Great for tea or making masks. LOL ^^

Many local artists use the farmers market as a way to sell their art. I loved this vendor’s glass creations. SOOO PRETTY *0*

I don’t think anyone can beat the fresh flowers at a farmers market has. The florist made this bouquet especially for my friend. So pretty. Reminds me of summer.

I have no clue what this flower was called. But the lady who made my friend’s bouquet was nice enough to give this to us for free.¬† If you know the name of this flower I would love to know. ^-^

I also got a henna while I was there. If you guys don’t know what a henna is, it’s basically a temporary tattoo. They apply a paste that dyes your skin and it lasts for about 2 weeks. It’s not painful at all and really pretty. In the picture above it’s not the final product. This stage is when the paste is still drying. It’s so amazing how they do hennas. The lady that did mine doesn’t use a stencil or picture. She free hands all the henna she does. She is AMAMZING!!! I could never do what she does.

Just another angle of my henna. I had her extend the flower vine onto my pointer finger. Glitter matches my nails. LOL ><

Cute Dragon Fly. The weirdest thing happened after she drew this. I’m not kidding when I say that a dragonfly flew right by me. Curious. o.O

After the henna ink peels off. This is what it looks like more or less. I took this picture right after the ink peeled off so the henna is not at it’s darkest. It usually takes a day or two for the henna to get as dark as possible.

My friends got hennas too. She got a Day of the Dead Skull with the Chinese symbol for strength above.

Day of the Dead Skull with intricate designs around it. Just amazing.

Koi Fish henna. Believe it or not. The lady had never done a Koi Henna before. You have to admit she is pretty damn good.

Time for lunch!!! >0< We decided on Indian.

I don’t know why, but I have always been under the impression that curry is really spicy. I am not really a spicy food person, so I was a little skeptical. However, this was not spicy at all. It was actually one of the most delicious things I have eaten in a long time. Curry is now one of my must eats. Try Indian curry if you haven’t. You will not regret it. SOOOO GOOD!!!!¬†Ôľą*¬ī‚ĖĹÔĹÄ*ÔľČ

Nan or flat bread. YUM!

I can’t resist anything with mango. Mango Lemonade was a must! ><

That’s all I have for now. Thanks for reading. Have a great weekend!

Much Love As Always,

Hong Kong Trip Part 3

1 Jun

Hey Meebsies,

Final Hong Kong post.

WARNING: Super pic heavy. ^^

If you get a chance you should try out Apollo ice cream. It’s kind of like Asian Baskin Robins but with some really cool flavors. They have everything from traditional vanilla to pumpkin. I personally got green tea and black sesame. YUMMY. ^-^

I bet you’re wondering what you’re looking at. We went to an gallery for miniature art. It’s soo crazy how little these replicas are. Yes, this is a¬†miniature street shop in Hong Kong. O.o

Miniature Herbal Pharmacy.

Miniature Convenience Store.

Fail Jordans. LOL ¬†Just a FYI. If you do buy knock offs I suggest you wear it when you go through customs, instead of packing it in your luggage. They will go through your luggage, but they are not going to ask you to strip down and examine your clothes. LOL I’ve had a friend who bought a knock off Coach bag and got it confiscated at customs. Luckily, she didn’t get into any legal trouble, but you should always be cautious. Chances are if you buy any brand name goods on street markets, they are fake. The only legit brand name goods would be in malls. If you live in the U.S. you are better off buying American brand goods in America. They are actually more expensive in Hong Kong. But if you are buying Asian brand goods like Skin Food or Shiseido it’s much cheaper in Hong Kong.

Make sure you check out Ocean Park. It’s an amusement park/zoo. They actually just added a few new rides and a huge roller coaster! WHOOT!! I’m kind of an¬†adrenaline junkie. ^O^ Another tip, if you do plan to go, I suggest you go on a weekday and early in the morning. Believe it or not, even before the park opens there will be a huge line to get in. If you don’t want to wait 30-45 mins to ride a ride, GO EARLY ON A WEEKDAY!!!

Ocean Park Website:

Hot Air Balllon Ride. Don’t worry, it’s tethered down so you won’t fly away. ^^ LOL

Rapids Ride. If you have ever gone to Disneyland, it’s¬†similar¬†to the water rides there. Warning, you will get wet but don’t worry, they sell ponchos. ¬†Even if you do get wet, I promise it’s worth it. ^_^

New Hair Raiser Roller Coaster.

Make sure you take the Cable Car Ride. It’s a 5 min ride through beautiful mountains above the ocean. SOOO PRETTY! *o*

PANDA!!! ‚̧ My favorite animal. SOOO CUTE!!! ^-^

Small local temple.

If you go to the Hong Kong Harbor there are many boats that will take you out on the water. If you have a little time on your hands, you should check it out.

Egg Waffles on Temple Street. YUM! ^^

Many people come to Hong Kong for the famous Peking Duck. I suggest going to Spring Deer; but make sure to make a reservation. Make a reservation early! During the summer time, people make reservations months ahead of time.

I can’t stress how good Pecking Duck ¬†is and how much it hurt my wallet. T.T Depending on what you order, the meal will be around or above $100. It’s expensive, but sooo worth it. If you are going to¬†splurge, splurge on this.

Hong Kong Skyline from Victoria Harbor.

Avenue of Stars. Jet Li’s Hand Prints! LOL ^^

Everyday at 8 pm on the Victoria Harbor, they have a light show called the Symphony of Lights. It’s breathtaking.¬†Especially¬†if you go during Christmas, it’s even more spectacular. OoO

Symphony of Lights.

One of the reasons we went to Hong Kong in December is because of the Christmas decorations. Hong Kong does not skimp when it comes to decorating the city. It’ soo beautiful.

REX!! ^-^

Coolest Christmas Tree EVAH!!! >o<

The Peninsula Hotel is the most expensive hotel in Hong Kong. On average a night cost about $5000-$10,000. O.O  This is where the Queen of England stays whenever she comes to Hong Kong.

Baboons? Monkeys?

Hong Kong Island Scenery.

Chung Kee Desserts is famous for their desserts. I know there is one in Cheung Sah Wan.

Mango Dessert.

Taro and Black Sesame Ice Cream.

Mango Shaved Ice. MY FAVE!!! ^-^

Chocolate Shaved Ice.

That’s my Hong Kong adventure. I love Hong Kong. It is really the best of both worlds. Whether you like hiking or shopping, Hong Kong has both. The bustling city is full of stores, lights, and food. While the urban villages offers boating, hiking, and of course food. ^^

P.S. You didn’t hear about the customs tip from me. ¬†:3

P.P.S. Look forward to a nail tutorial. ><
